Toloka is a data company whose crowd-work program for "Tolokers" has now moved to a platform called Mindrift. This guide covers what Toloka and Mindrift publish themselves, says where the pages leave questions open and keeps third-party opinions out of the facts. Last checked: 27 October 2026.
Key takeaways
- The old Toloka worker page redirects to Mindrift, and Mindrift says tasks and projects from Toloka and Toloka Annotators "have moved" there.
- Mindrift says existing accounts moved automatically, and that joining is free.
- Payouts are twice a month through Payoneer or Tipalti (PayPal), on completed and accepted tasks.
- Pay per hour: n/d. The pages we read give no hourly figure, and the SOJI Pay Index does not cover Toloka or Mindrift.

What Toloka is, and where the work went
If you open the old Tolokers address on toloka.ai, it sends you to the Mindrift welcome page. That page says "the tasks and projects from Toloka and Toloka Annotators have moved to Mindrift, so everything's in one place." Its copyright line names Toloka AI BV, and it links to a Toloka-hosted address, which suggests the same company runs it, though the page does not say so outright. The Toloka website remains online for its business side.
Mindrift describes the work as rating AI responses, labeling and classifying content and judging search relevance. You start with "All-access" tasks, then add skills and pass qualifications to reach specialized projects, which Mindrift says pay more.
What it says about pay
| Item | What the page states |
|---|---|
| Joining | Free |
| Payout schedule | Twice a month, processed on the 5th and 20th (adjusted for weekends and holidays) |
| Payout methods | Payoneer or Tipalti (PayPal) |
| What is paid | Completed and accepted tasks |
| Hourly rate | n/d |
Because only accepted tasks are paid, rejected work earns nothing. Ask how a project measures acceptance before you spend a lot of time on it.
How getting started works
- Apply through the "Apply now" link and sign up.
- Start with the open tasks, then qualify for specialized projects.
- Set up your withdrawal method and wait for the next payout date.
Mindrift says you can "join from any country", but it also links an "Eligibility and Geographic Restrictions" page that we could not read. Treat that as an open question and check it for your country first.
How steady is the work?
Mindrift does not promise hours or assignments. Availability depends on which projects are open and whether you qualify, so plan for variable income.
Is it legit? A checklist
- A named company is behind the site. The copyright line shows Toloka AI BV.
- Joining is free, per the page.
- Payment goes through known providers (Payoneer, Tipalti) set up inside your account.
- Check the address. The official move is from toloka.ai to mindrift.ai. Be cautious of emails or chat messages asking for ID documents or fees. See how to spot legitimate AI training jobs and avoid scams.
Alternatives to compare
- Platforms we have reviewed the same way: Outlier and DataAnnotation; also Alignerr and Handshake AI.
- Listings with pay shown up front: Mercor jobs and Micro1 jobs on SOJI, with medians in the SOJI Pay Index.
Limitations
We are an independent site. We cannot see inside any company or confirm anyone's personal experience, and we cannot guarantee any outcome. We read the public pages only, and we could not read the geographic restrictions page. SOJI is not affiliated with Toloka or Mindrift and earns nothing if you join. Policies and rates change, so the live terms are the right source. On 27 October 2026 we opened the old Tolokers address ourselves, followed the redirect to Mindrift and read both pages.
