Is Alignerr Legit? Pay, Application and Alternatives (2026)
Alignerr shows up in many "is it legit?" searches, usually next to words like "unpaid", "assessment" and "ended". This guide sticks to what Alignerr itself publishes, says where the official pages leave questions open and keeps third-party reports clearly separate. Last checked: 13 October 2026.
What Alignerr is
Alignerr describes itself as "powered by Labelbox", the data-labeling company. On its homepage it says it is hiring across domains such as coding, audio, STEM and general work, and it looks for "PhDs, researchers, subject matter experts and experienced professionals". Listings include roles such as Generalist, Prompt Writer, Customer Support Task Author and language experts.
The relationship with Labelbox is stated by Alignerr itself, and its FAQ includes a question on how the two are associated.
What Alignerr says about pay
- Headline figures: the homepage shows "$80/hr" as "Average pay" and "$1M" as "Paid weekly" (an aggregate figure, not your own payment schedule). It does not explain how the average is calculated.
- Listing ranges: Customer Support Task Author at $20 to $50 per hour, Generalist and prompt-writing roles at $40 to $120, and an AI Language Expert in Portuguese at $25 to $30. The process page shows "up to $150/hr" for a Finance and Accounting Expert and "up to $120/hr" for a Legal and Compliance Expert.
- What the listings imply: pay is listed hourly and there is no guaranteed minimum. The official pages do not mention per-task pay.
- What third parties report: some reviews say that, depending on the project, pay is either tracked by hours or paid only for tasks that are reviewed and approved. Alignerr's pages we read do not confirm or deny this, so check the pay terms of the specific project before you start.
For context, the SOJI Pay Index (13 October 2026) shows a median advertised pay of about $76 per hour on Mercor and Micro1 roles. It is a different dataset, so use it only as a reference.
How the application works
According to Alignerr's process page:
- Sign up with Google and upload your resume, which fills in your profile.
- Apply to listings that match your skills. Each shows its requirements and pay.
- Verify your identity: a phone number by text, then an ID check through Persona.
- Extra screening for some projects: a "Zara AI interview" or a domain-specific assessment. You are told if it applies.
- Contract and payment setup: after approval you complete your contract and set up payment through Stripe Connect or PayPal, depending on where you live. Alignerr says Stripe setup takes about an hour.
- Onboarding with resources, an introduction to the Labelbox platform and access to Discord.
Alignerr does not say whether the screening steps are paid or unpaid. Several third-party reviews say evaluation phases are often unpaid, so ask before you spend hours on one.
Its FAQ also has questions on work authorization and visas, so check them for your own situation. We cannot tell from the pages we read which countries are eligible.
How steady is the work?
Alignerr promises "continuous opportunities" and work "on your schedule", but it does not guarantee hours or assignments. Reviews we read describe work that depends on the project: some people wait between projects, and when a project ends you apply for the next one. Treat it as flexible, variable income.
Is Alignerr legit? A checklist
- A named company stands behind it. Labelbox is the operator named on the site.
- No payment to be considered. Nothing in the process we read asks you to pay.
- ID verification goes through a known provider (Persona), inside the official application flow. Do not send ID documents by email or chat.
- Payment through Stripe Connect or PayPal, set up inside the app, not through a link sent to you.
- Check the pay model and the rate shown for your project before you start.
- Count your real hourly rate, including unpaid screening.
If anything feels off, pause and verify on the official site. For safety basics, read how to spot legitimate AI training jobs and avoid scams.
Alternatives to compare

Limitations of this guide
We are an independent site. We cannot see inside any company, we cannot confirm anyone's personal experience and we cannot guarantee any outcome. Some Alignerr pages we read show questions without answers, so we only report what is stated. Pay and policies change, so the live terms are always the right source.
SOJI is an independent job board and is not affiliated with Alignerr or Labelbox, and we earn nothing if you join Alignerr. If you apply to Mercor or Micro1 through our referral links and are hired, SOJI may earn a commission at no cost to you, and this does not affect which jobs we publish. Read more on our About page.
