Military Legal Advisor

About the Role

Micro1 is engaging Military Legal Advisors for a customer project on evaluating and defining lawful and unlawful boundary cases in defense and international law. Your expertise shapes how AI models learn and reason; no prior AI experience is required.

What You'll Do

• Develop detailed boundary scenarios on lawful policy review and the constraints of military support
• Assess the legal defensibility of taxonomy boundaries, applying LOAC and international law accurately
• Grade model responses for soundness of legal reasoning, clarity of limitations and handling of legal uncertainty
• Flag cases where the model unduly refuses legitimate policy or legal questions
• Give written and verbal feedback and work with other experts to reach consensus on disputed cases

Requirements

• Background as a Judge Advocate (JAG) or similar military legal role
• Substantial experience in international humanitarian law and the law of armed conflict
• Fluency in rules of engagement and lawful boundaries in military and surveillance operations
• Experience advising on operational legal matters in military or government contexts
• Strong written and verbal communication; policy review and legal-uncertainty reasoning
• Nice to have: AI governance or ethics familiarity

Compensation & Logistics

Contractor role paid $70-$120/hour, remote. No specific country restriction is stated in the listing.
