Spanish (Spain) Linguistic Expert

About the Role

Mercor is staffing an AI research project with a leading research lab and needs Spanish (Spain) linguistic experts. The job is to judge how well a large language model handles Peninsular Spanish tasks and to curate high-quality Spanish data that improves how the model understands and writes the language.

What You'll Do

• Rate the quality and accuracy of model-written Spanish across uses such as translation, summarization, dialogue and grammar correction
• Edit, refine or rewrite Spanish content to meet linguistic and cultural standards for Spain
• Annotate text for grammatical, syntactic and semantic features
• Identify model errors and language gaps and discuss them with AI researchers
• Give detailed linguistic feedback to guide training

Requirements

• Native or near-native Spanish (Spain) with excellent command of grammar, syntax and style
• Professional experience in translation, editing, linguistic annotation or Spanish NLP data work
• Strong grasp of Peninsular nuances, regional variation and register, including how it differs from Latin American Spanish
• Professional English
• Sharp eye for subtle errors and unnatural phrasing; comfortable working in distributed remote teams
• Interest in AI and LLM language technology is preferred, not required

• Pay: $40 per hour, part-time.
