Ophthalmologist

About the Role

Mercor is recruiting board-certified ophthalmologists (MDs and DOs) to assess health AI models for a leading AI lab. You will review de-identified patient charts and judge how well AI systems answer clinical questions in ophthalmology.

What You'll Do

• Assess AI answers to ophthalmology questions for clinical accuracy, patient safety and fit with current standards of care
• Compare each answer with the patient chart and pick the stronger of two responses
• Write structured rationales covering clinical rigor, completeness and clarity
• Flag errors that could put patient safety at risk

Requirements

• MD or DO from an accredited medical school
• Board certification in ABO Ophthalmology through an ABMS member board or the AOA
• Active, unrestricted US medical license
• Completed residency, plus fellowship where the specialty requires one
• Currently practicing and seeing patients in the US, with at least 1 year of independent practice after training (3+ years strongly preferred)
• Clear written communication and close attention to detail

Compensation & Logistics

• $175/hour, about 20 hours per week, flexible part-time schedule
• Fully remote, immediate start
• Location and licence limits: this is a US-licensed physician role. It requires an active, unrestricted US medical license and current clinical practice in the US, so it is not suitable for clinicians licensed or practising elsewhere.
