Molecular Biology Experts - US

Location: RemoteEligible locations: United StatesContract type: ContractSalary: $70 – $105Posted: October 8, 2026

About the Role

A leading AI lab's GenAI team is looking for molecular biology subject-matter experts who have personally designed DNA and RNA sequences and can raise the quality of its AI training data. This is a W-2 employment position with Cincinnatus LLC, with placement at the AI lab as part of its extended workforce.

What You'll Do

  • Work with research and engineering teams to find where a model's molecular biology reasoning breaks down
  • Design hard, domain-relevant tasks and write accurate, documented solutions: primers for PCR/qPCR/cloning, plasmids and expression vectors, gRNA/sgRNA for CRISPR, mRNA constructs and HDR/repair templates
  • Review tasks and model outputs against expert solutions with clear written feedback
  • Write the guidelines and rubrics used to judge sequence design quality (guide and target selection, homology arm length, primer Tm and specificity, codon optimization, regulatory elements)
  • Work with other subject matter experts to keep the training data consistent

Requirements

  • Advanced degree (PhD strongly preferred) in molecular biology, genetics, biochemistry, synthetic biology, bioengineering or a related life science
  • Hands-on experience designing nucleic acid constructs across several of: primers, plasmids/vectors, gRNA/sgRNA, mRNA and repair templates, plus the cloning strategy (Gibson, Golden Gate, Gateway, restriction) and codon optimization
  • Strong peer-reviewed publication record, weighted toward first-author work in venues such as Nature, Cell, eLife, NAR, PNAS or EMBO Journal (include links)
  • Clear career progression and strong written communication
  • Reliable commitment of at least 20 hours per week on weekdays
  • Prior AI training, evaluation or annotation experience is a plus
  • Based in the United States

Compensation & Logistics

  • Pay: $70-$105 per hour
  • Listed workload: 40 hours per week, with a minimum commitment of 20 hours per week on weekdays
  • Remote, US only
  • Employment is through Cincinnatus LLC, an employer of record providing W-2 employment, payroll, benefits and compliance
