Forward Deployed Engineer, U.S. Government

About the Role

An AI lab is hiring a Forward Deployed Engineer (MTS) to work on applied AI systems across research and production — model experimentation, infrastructure and deployment in high-assurance, mission-critical environments, including forward-deployed work with strategic government partners.

What You'll Do

• Build and deploy agentic AI systems supporting high-impact U.S. Government missions from prototype to production
• Design and integrate LLM applications: multi-agent systems, tool-using agents, RAG workflows, human-in-the-loop autonomy
• Work directly with government partners in forward-deployed environments, translating mission needs into technical systems
• Build and maintain large-scale data curation and evaluation pipelines for model training

Requirements

• Strong applied AI/ML engineering background
• Willingness to relocate to the Washington, DC area

Compensation & Logistics

• $40-60/hour, full-time
• Hybrid — requires relocating to the DC area
