Management Consultant — AI Reasoning & Strategy Expert
About the Role
Frontier AI labs need domain experts who can teach models to think like a top-tier strategy consultant. This project builds a benchmark of real-world consulting scenarios — market entry, operating model redesign, cost transformation, due diligence — used to train and evaluate how AI systems reason through ambiguous, high-stakes business problems. Your judgment becomes the standard the model is measured against.
What You'll Do
- Case Design: Turn your real consulting experience into complex, realistic business cases with a clear, defensible "right answer"
- Frameworks in Practice: Show how structured problem-solving (MECE, hypothesis-driven analysis, valuation, market sizing) applies to messy, real scenarios — not textbook ones
- Quality Bar: Write consultant-grade deliverables (recommendations, executive summaries, slide logic) that set the gold standard for evaluation
- Grading Rigor: Score AI-generated responses against objective rubrics, flagging weak reasoning, unsupported claims, or missed considerations
- Feedback Loop: Give the research team structured feedback on where model reasoning breaks down
Requirements
- Several years in management/strategy consulting (MBB, Big Four advisory, boutique, or in-house strategy), with a track record of client-facing deliverables
- Strong grounding in structured problem-solving, business case analysis, and quantitative reasoning
- Excellent written English — clear, concise, executive-ready
- Must be based in the United States or Canada
- Able to commit 15-20 hours per week, fully asynchronous and remote
- Preferred: MBA or equivalent, multi-industry exposure, or prior experience creating training material or case content
Compensation & Logistics
- Type: Part-Time Contract (Independent Contractor)
- Compensation: $99-$100/hour, paid weekly via Stripe or Wise
- Location: Remote (United States or Canada only)
- Commitment: 15-20 hours/week, fully asynchronous
- Duration: Ongoing, reviewed monthly; projects may be extended, shortened, or concluded early based on needs and performance
- Application process: resume evaluation and experience verification, followed by onboarding sign-off
- Note: Mercor is unable to support H1-B or STEM OPT candidates at this time
