Accounting Specialist (UK-Based) — ASC 606 Revenue Recognition
About the Role
Mercor is recruiting UK-based Accounting Specialists with ASC 606 revenue recognition experience for a research project with a leading frontier AI lab. We are seeking experienced accounting professionals with strong backgrounds in revenue recognition, technical accounting, audit, accounting advisory, and financial reporting. Candidates must have hands-on experience with ASC 606 revenue recognition and the ability to analyze complex accounting scenarios involving customer contracts, performance obligations, transaction price allocation, and revenue timing.
Strong candidates should have experience interpreting accounting guidance, reviewing financial statements, evaluating revenue policies, and applying technical accounting judgment in real-world business contexts.
What You'll Do
You will help create, review, and evaluate high-quality accounting scenarios, leveraging your experience in revenue recognition, technical accounting, audit, and financial reporting. Strong candidates are comfortable applying accounting standards, analyzing contract terms, identifying technical accounting issues, and explaining revenue recognition conclusions clearly. You will be contributing high-quality training data for frontier AI systems, available to work up to 40 hours per week. Successful contributions increase the likelihood of being selected for future Mercor projects.

Requirements
- Experience at firms such as Deloitte, PwC, EY, KPMG, BDO, Grant Thornton, Forvis Mazars, RSM, Crowe, Evelyn Partners, or another leading accounting, audit, or advisory firm
- Must be based in the United Kingdom with the right to work in the UK

Compensation & Logistics
- Type: Independent Contractor
- Compensation: Confirmed in offer, paid weekly via Stripe or Wise
- Location: Remote (must be based in the UK with right to work in the UK, up to 40 hrs/week)
- Contract: Projects can be extended, shortened, or concluded early depending on needs and performance. Your work will not involve access to confidential or proprietary information from any employer, client, or institution.
- Restrictions: Mercor is unable to support H1-B or STEM OPT candidates at this time.
