Of the 394 hourly-paid roles in the SOJI pay index on 14 October 2026, 257 (65%) paid at least $50 an hour at the midpoint of the listed range, 135 (34%) paid at least $75 and 76 (19%) paid at least $100. Only 30 roles (8%) reached $150 an hour. These are listed rates for expert contractor work, not guaranteed earnings.

What separates the high rates

The highest rates go to roles that ask for a profession and years of practice, such as a licensed lawyer, a clinician or a senior finance specialist. Rates at the top of the range, $150 and above, are often for senior or rare expertise. Entry-level data tasks sit at the low end.
