Compensation & Equity Expert (Total Rewards)

About the Role

Mercor's People team is building its compensation and equity foundation from scratch and wants to think it through with practitioners who have done it before. This listing is for Total Rewards experts, and depth in either compensation or equity on its own is enough. It is a series of short, paid expert conversations rather than a long employment.

What You'll Do

• Complete a short screen; if your background fits, you are invited to a paid conversation about a live question the People team is facing.
• Share your experience on compensation philosophy, leveling and how equity should be granted and explained.
• Take on engagements that run a few hours at a time, each scoped to a single question.

Requirements

• Compensation design and architecture: built salary bands, leveling frameworks and job architecture; owned an annual cycle (merit, promotions, bonus, equity refresh); defended peer benchmarks to executives; designed incentive structures that changed behavior.
• And/or equity program management: designed option and RSU programs, grant guidelines, pool planning and vesting; worked with 409A valuations, plan governance and grant administration at a venture-backed company; built models explaining what equity is worth.
• Also valuable: pay equity and transparency, global or contractor workforce compensation, benefits design, HRIS tooling, executive compensation or IPO-readiness equity.

Compensation & Logistics

• Pay: $50-$200 per hour depending on depth of experience, and you are paid for the conversation whether or not anything follows.
• Fully remote; no location restriction is stated.
• Context: Mercor is a Series C company at a $10B valuation, scaling from roughly 500 employees alongside a large global contractor network.
