Network Engineer - Talent Network (Data for Autonomous Systems)

Location: RemoteEligible locations: Canada, United StatesContract type: Part-timeSalary: $50 – $70Posted: October 8, 2026

About the Role

A client is building networking systems and using the data they generate to power AI-driven infrastructure. Mercor is looking for hands-on enterprise network engineers (Tier 3, network operations or escalation-level support) to label, annotate and structure data from real production networks. This is an ongoing talent network rather than a single vacancy: applications are reviewed on a rolling basis and interview rounds run as new headcount opens, so completing the technical practicum now puts your profile forward for later rounds.

What You'll Do

  • Review real data from deployed networks: logs, configs, telemetry and event streams
  • Label and classify network behaviors, issues, anomalies and incident patterns
  • Help define schemas and structure for large data pipelines that downstream ML models train on
  • Work directly with the client team

Requirements

  • Hands-on experience operating enterprise production networks (switches, access points, firewalls) in end-customer environments such as retail, healthcare, finance, manufacturing, universities or hospitality
  • 5+ years in network engineering, operations or support, currently or most recently in a hands-on role
  • Preferred: escalation-point experience (Tier 3, on-call, RCAs), enterprise Wi-Fi (Cisco WLC/9800, Aruba, Meraki, 802.1X/RADIUS), packet-level troubleshooting (Wireshark, tcpdump, SPAN), multi-site or campus networks
  • Not a fit if your work is mainly design/architecture, cloud/SRE, security/SOC or helpdesk

Compensation & Logistics

Pay is $50-$70 per hour, 30-40 hours per week with overlap with the Pacific business day. This is an individual 1099 contract paid to a personal account, with no corp-to-corp or agency billing. You must be authorized to work in the US or Canada without sponsorship; F-1 STEM OPT cannot be accommodated, while standard F-1 OPT is fine.
