About the Role

A contractor project where outpatient coding expertise is used to train AI systems. No AI experience is needed; coding knowledge is what matters.

What You'll Do

  • Annotate and review outpatient records (physician office, clinic, ambulatory surgery, hospital outpatient) and confirm correct ICD-10-CM and CPT/HCPCS codes.
  • Apply E&M leveling using medical decision making or total time guidelines.
  • Follow outpatient conventions, including diagnosis coding rules, modifiers, medical necessity and linking diagnoses to procedures.
  • Clarify requirements and resolve documentation ambiguities with stakeholders.
  • Give feedback on coding guidelines and edge cases to improve workflows.

Requirements

  • Active AAPC Certified Professional Coder (CPC) certification (required).
  • Strong knowledge of ICD-10-CM, CPT and outpatient E&M guidelines.
  • Hands-on outpatient coding experience in primary care, specialty clinics, ASCs or hospital outpatient departments.
  • Familiarity with office notes, procedure notes and operative reports.
  • Clear written and verbal communication.
  • Access to current ICD-10-CM, CPT and HCPCS Level II coding books.

Compensation & Logistics

Contractor role, remote, in the United States, paid $20-$32 per hour. Applicants provide their certification number or verification link.
