Mercor seeks PhD-level philosophers to write and verify expert multiple-choice benchmark questions for AI research. Remote, $50-$63/hr.

## About the Role
Mercor is looking for expert philosophers to help build gold-standard assessment content for an AI research initiative. You will either author new multiple-choice questions or verify questions written by others, in philosophy domains that include formal ontology and knowledge representation, AI ethics, applied epistemology, philosophy of technology and robotics, and philosophy of science.

## What You'll Do
- Write original, challenging multiple-choice questions that test deep conceptual understanding rather than recall
- Make each question unambiguous and self-contained, with all needed information in the problem statement
- Rate difficulty as Medium (intro undergraduate), Hard (advanced undergraduate) or Expert (post-graduate and above)
- Provide one correct answer and nine plausible but subtly wrong alternatives
- Write step-by-step chain-of-thought solutions in markdown and cite 1-5 reputable academic references per question
- For verification tasks, review pre-written questions for clarity, completeness, precision and solvability, edit where needed and document your changes

## Requirements
- PhD or doctoral candidate in Philosophy or a closely related field (a Master's may be considered for exceptional depth in a subdomain)
- Strong command of philosophical argumentation, formal logic and canonical texts across traditions
- Research publications or teaching experience in philosophy are a strong plus
- Excellent written English and the ability to express complex ideas concisely

## Compensation & Logistics
- Pay: $50-$63 per hour
